1998 The story for this song is that i found a sound sample saying ''Bless me Father, for I have sinned'' and that sample was all i needed for my fantasy to start building the background for this song.
In my head i started to think about how all the world religons all, have some rules about care for each other and to be nice to the stranger. But somehow every religion by time gets missconducted by people with own agendas and the power to use the religion in a way that turn the peoples to blindly belivers or foes.
Lyrics:
Bless me Father, for I have sinned Bless me Father, for I have sinned I have sinned
No other gods before You, but we chase our gold and fame We bow to screens and idols, forget the power in Your name Don't take Your name in vain, but we curse when we are mad We joke about the holy, call evil good and good bad
Keep the Sabbath day in honor, but we work and never rest We shop and scroll on Sundays, put our worship second best Honor father, honor mother, but we talk back, turn away We leave the old and lonely, no gentle word, no time to stay
You said: You shall not murder, but hatred's in our hearts We stab with words on the internet, tear each other apart You shall not commit adultery, but lust is everywhere We cheat on vows and secrets, swipe away like we don't care
You shall not steal, but we're taking more than what is ours From stolen time at workplaces to corruption in high towers You shall not bear false witness, but we twist the truth online We gossip, lie and slander, spread a rumor like it's fine
You shall not covet, but we're wanting all we see The neighbors' lives and houses, their bodies, fame, and money All these holy commandments, like mirrors to our soul They show our broken nature, how far we are from whole
Allmost alla of us humans is sinners in one or another way From secrets in the darkness to the masks we wear by day No one's hands are spotless, no one's record is clean We've all broken Your commandments, in the heart and in the seen
Bless me Father, for I have sinned Bless me Father, for I have sinned
Wars for land and power, bombs that fall on children's heads Murder in our cities, blood on streets and empty beds Leaders lying to the nations, selling truth for votes and gain Greed of banks and corporations, building empires out of pain
Families torn by cheating, broken trust and hidden phones Kids left crying in the silence of divided, angry homes We worship brands and money, trust in weapons, lust and fame The Ten Commandments still are holy, but we break them just the same
Bless me Father, for I have sinned Bless us Father, for we've all sinned Bless me Father, for I have sinned Bless me Father, for I have sinned
